The Maternity Unit of the Hospital Particular de Gambelas commemorated World Breastfeeding Week, which this year took place in the first week of August, with the slogan Working Together for the Common Good.
Throughout the week, various activities promoting breastfeeding were conducted, culminating with a symposium on 19 August 2018 at the Hotel Vila Galé Ampalius, in Vilamoura, where these topics were addressed: The Decision to Breastfeed; How to Breastfeed Your Baby; Breast Pathology and Breastfeeding; How to Store Breast Milk.
World Breastfeeding Week is an initiative of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), a global network of people and organisations dedicated to the protection, promotion and support of maternal breastfeeding, with consultative status at UNICEF and the United Nations.
Breastfeeding significantly improves short-and long-term health, development and survival of babies and children, as well as the health of the mothers.
Dozens of mothers and fathers participated in this symposium, organised in partnership with Crioestaminal. We congratulate our professionals once again for the dedication and warmth that shines through in these events.
