The Medical Care Departments of the Grupo HPA Saúde are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year, providing ongoing medical care, able to respond to emergency and surgical situations.
The medical and nursing teams of the Medical Care Departments of the Grupo HPA Saúde are highly qualified and experienced, able to respond to all medical emergencies at any time of the day or night.
The possibility of an immediate response, both technical and human, in Imaging (X-Ray, CT and MRI Scans), Clinical Analysis, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Theatre and In-Patient Facilities permit us to ensure safety and excellence in the services we provided patients that seek our services in an emergency situation.
The Medical Care Unit consists of:

This Department is equipped with technology and medical equipment that enable rapid and effective assessment of all patients.
Important Information
Admission procedures must be carried out at the Reception, and patients must wait to be called for medical care.
It is important to have with you, an identification document as well as health insurance information.
Being a Private Hospital, if patients do not posses health insurance there is the possibility of adhering to the hospital CareCard, which will provide a discount on hospital treatment.
The most common situations that should make one decide to go to the Medical Care Department of the Grupo HPA Saúde are:

Severe bleeding (vomiting blood, bloody stools and other)

Food poisoning

Excessive intake of drugs

Intense chest pain or any other pain that is intense and uncomfortable

Sudden changes of speech and body movements

Suspected fracture
All other situations that are not common or cause physical and / or psychic discomfort and when the onset of the symptoms are sudden, should be cause for a visit to the Medical Care unit of the hospital for an evaluation.o main Hospitals of the Group.
The Medical Care Departments of these Units have consultation without appointment with Doctor, Nurse, X-Ray and Clinical Analysis on immediate response.
Doctors and Nursing staff have been given specific training and are capable of handling any situation that might arise in an emergency context.
These units are equipped with technology that permits diagnosis and continuous monitoring of patients in Observation Room.
The Medical Care units also have consulting rooms, nurses’ station and treatment rooms.
These smaller units belonging to the Hospital Particular do Algarve have the support of the three larger hospitals of the Group, in Alvor, Gambelas and Funchal. All medical situations benefit from an immediate response but more serious cases are referred to one of the two larger hospitals.
Ambulance transfer between Clinics and Hospitals is provided by the Private Ambulances of the Grupo HPA Saúde.
We hereby ensure that the care we provide is all-round private health care according to each patient’s individual needs. Our patients’ safety and comfort are fundamental and our priority.
At closing time outstanding clinical situations are forwarded to one of the three main Hospitals of the Group.
