The JCI is a healthcare accreditation body based on the quality standards of the United States and internationally recognised. Its mission is to improve safety and the quality of care through the evaluation of various requirements, encompassing the 6 International Patient Safety Goals as well as different clinical standards.
HPA Gambelas has been reaccredited for the 3rd time by this organisation, with its standards applied across all units, both hospitals and clinics, of the HPA Health Group.
These are the 6 International Patient Safety Goals:
GOAL 1 – Correctly identify the patient - Whenever you are attended to, we will ask you to confirm your full name and date of birth. This verification is carried out before the consultation, at admission, during medication administration, examinations, or surgeries.
GOAL 2 – Improve the effectiveness of communication - For clear and effective communication, all important information regarding your treatment is recorded and shared with the team, ensuring continuity of care.
GOAL 3 – Improve medication safety - We carefully monitor all processes of prescribing, storing, and administering medication to ensure your safety and well-being.
GOAL 4 – Ensure correct patient, site, and procedure during surgery - We ensure safe and effective surgeries by following the best practices of the World Health Organisation. The patient is correctly identified, the surgical site is accurately marked, and laterality is confirmed.
GOAL 5 – Reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) - Infection prevention starts with proper hand hygiene. We strictly adhere to hand hygiene protocols, following the best scientific practices to ensure the safety and health of all.
GOAL 6 – Reduce patient harm due to falls - All patients are assessed for fall risk based on specific criteria. To ensure safety, we encourage patients to ask for help whenever necessary and provide appropriate support.
