The Gambelas Private Hospital (Faro), the largest private hospital in the Algarve, was awarded for the second time, the Gold Seal of Approval for Clinical Excellence in Safety and Quality, issued by Joint Commission International (JCI).
Experts from the world's leading clinical audit institution, review compliance with more than three hundred standards of excellence and more than a thousand parameters in clinical and non-clinical areas.
Although extensive experience was acquired with our first accreditation process in 2018, this re-accreditation has turned out to also be very demanding, since the hospital was subject to an important expansion at the end of last year, refers the Director of Quality Dr Luís Fernandes. In other words, from the moment more differentiated and additional services were made available, all processes and procedures had to be created or revised.
It is important to note that receiving this International Accreditation means that JCI recognizes that our professionals and facilities are guided by the highest standards of safety and quality in areas such as infection control, care, medical and surgical care, but also leadership and organizational management, says João Bacalhau, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the HPA Health Group.
For Dr Paulo Vieira de Sousa Medical Director and Nurse Paulo Silva, Nursing Director of the Hospital, both emphasized in unison, that the commitment, humanism and dedication of the professionals, are attitudes that represent the will to work always better while at the same time always using the strictest safety and quality standards.
Being one of the group of the safest hospitals in the world, while being located in the most touristic region of Portugal, should be a source of pride for everyone, not only on a regional level, but also on a national level, concludes César Santos, Administrator and Director of the HPA Gambelas.
