On the 15th April the first Endomyocardial Biopsy was performed at the Cardiovascular Intervention Unit of the Alvor Hospital.
This is an exam where small fragments of the heart muscle are collected for pathological testing. This is an important exam for the diagnosis of certain cardiac disease, including myocarditis.
Due to some diseases the heart muscle suffers some alterations and this test allows an early differential diagnosis in order to alter or continue with a specific therapy.
This specific test was performed with the object of establishing a differential diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis.
